Öl auf Leinwand. Stimmungsvolles Landschaftsbild, eine Jagdgesellschaft am Flussufer darstellend. Ein Paar Jäger mit Hunden reitet aus dem Wald hinaus und verfolgt einen den Fluss überquerenden Hirsch. Alte Bäume mit mächtigen Laubkronen überragen das Geschehen am Fluss. Craquelé. Im Profilrahmen aus vergoldetem Holz. Bildmaße 75 x 100 cm, Maße gerahmt 91 x 116 cm.
Jan van Kessel (Amsterdam) ging wahrscheinlich bei Jacob van Ruisdael in die Lehre und war mit Werken von Meindert Hobbema gut vertraut. Er malte verschiedene Landschaftstypen (darunter viele Waldlandschaften) und Straßenbilder.
Provenienz: Laut Einliefererangaben stammt das Bild aus der Sammlung von Gräfin Montgelas.

Old trees with massive crowns tower above the river scene. Craquelures. In a profile frame of gilt wood. Dimensions of painting 75 x 100 cm, dimensions of frame 91 x 116 cm.
Jan van Kessel (Amsterdam) was probably a pupil of Jacob van Ruisdael and was well acquainted with the paintings of Meindert Hobbema. He painted various types of landscapes (among them many forest landscapes) and street sceneries.
