'Das Bild steht innerhalb eines Zyklus, der - nach den zwei bekannten Gemälden (vgl. auch Nr.55) - wohl den Heiligen des Benediktinerordens oder auch der Geschichte des Ordens, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des Fuldaer Klosters, gewidmet war.' Das Gemälde ist abgebildet und besprochen bei: Stasch, Gregor Karl: Johann Andreas Herrlein und die barocke Malerei in Fulda.
