Johann Jakob Wetzel hatte bereits in jungen Jahren seine künstlerische Lehre bei Heinrich Bleuler begonnen, Nach Abbruch seiner Lehre bei Bleuler und nach einer Ausbildung zum Zeichner verdingte er sich mit dem Kolorieren von Aquatintablättern beim Verleger Osterwald in Neuenburg. Erst nach seiner Rückkehr nach Zürich 1810 schuf er selbstständig Landschaften, fast ausschließlich in Aquarell. Die Nachfrage war groß, besonders der internationale Adel bestellte Schweizer Ansichten bei ihm, vor allem Ansichten der Schweizer Seen. Um 1825 kam der junge Künstler Salomon Corrodi (1810-1892) zu ihm in die Lehre und es entwickelte sich ein starkes Lehrer-Schüler-Verhältnis. Corrodi begleitete seinen Lehrer Wetzel auch auf längeren Reisen durch die Schweiz und Oberitalien. Erst 1832 trennten sich die Wege der beiden Künstler, wahrscheinlich aufgrund der Krankheit, an der Wetzel schließlich 1834 verstarb.

After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
