With the stamps "Hauptstrom" and "FREE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY". With the enclosed information on the creation of the work by Heiner Stachelhaus. This is the first co-operation project between Beuys and Luther. The two artists and Heiner Stachelhaus travelled by train to the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum in Ludwigshafen in 1978. Luther took a photo of Beuys and Stachelhaus on the train. When he made prints of it to give to the two, some of the prints were reversed. Putting the photograph together with the reversed photograph inspired the artists to create the multiple. Six prototypes were created with black-polychromed wood (two each for Beuys, Luther and Stachelhaus). The enclosed photograph shows how the present copy, the first of the prototypes, was presented to Beuys in his studio in 1981. After the prototypes, 15 more copies were made in boxes of light-coloured wood.
