Öl auf Leinwand. Bruststück der Caterina de' Medici, Herzogin von Mantua und Tochter des toskanischen Großherzogs Ferdinand I. Als Schmuck trägt die in Brokat gekleidete Herzogin ein reiches Perlen-Ensemble, den Hals ziert außerdem ein feiner Medici-Kragen aus Spitze. Mit würdevoller Ausdruckslosigkeit blickt sie den Betrachter an. Restauriert, durch Reinigung gut zu verbessern. Im zeitgenössischen ebonisierten und vergoldeten Rahmen aus Holz mit gewellter Stuckbordüre und gemalten Zierelementen. Der Rahmen leicht wurmstichig, kleine bis mittelgroße Bestoßungen bzw. Fehlstellen. Bildmaße 55 x 41 cm, gerahmt 73,5 x 62 cm.
Justus Sustermans (1597 - 1681) war ein Maler des flämischen Barock. Als Hofmaler der Medici stieg er zu einem der angesehensten Künstler seiner Zeit auf; er ist insbesondere für Medici-Portraits berühmt, gleichwohl lassen sich in seinem Œuvre viele nicht minder bedeutende Zeitgenossen finden.

Oil on canvas. Bust-length portrait of Catherine de' Medici, Duchess of Mantua and daughter of Ferdinando I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. Dressed in brocade, the Duchess wears an opulent pearl ensemble with a fine lace Medici collar around her neck. She gazes back at the viewer with a dignified, bland expression. Restored but can easily be improved by cleaning. In a contemporary ebonised and gilt wooden frame with an undulating stucco border and painted ornamental elements. The frame with minor worm damage, small to medium-sized knocks and flaws. Size of the picture 55 x 41 cm, framed 73.5 x 62 cm.
Justus Sustermans (1597 - 1681) was a Flemish Baroque painter. As court painter to the Medici, he became one of the most respected artists of his time. He achieved particular fame for his Medici portraits, although his oeuvre also features many equally important contemporaries.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
