"Das Buch erschien erst nach Kafkas Tod; aufgrund der aktiven Teilnahme Kafkas an der Herstellung seiner gültigen Textgestalt ist es jedoch nur im äußerlichsten Sinne des Wortes als postume Publikation zu bezeichnen, richtig verstanden ist es der tatsächlich letzte Druck zu seinen Lebzeiten.
