Büste. En face, antikisierend gekleidet mit Tunika und Umhang. Im aufgesteckten Haar ein Diadem. Weißer Marmor. Auf eingezogenem Rundsockel. Rücks. bez. BARTOLINI DIREXIT / DE BOSIO. H. 60,5 cm. H. (mit Sockel) 75,5 cm. Marie-Louise, Erzherzogin von Österreich (nicht regierendes Mitglied der Dynastie); Kaiserin der Franzosen (1810-1814), danach bis zu ihrem Tod 1847 Herzogin von Parma, Piacenza und Guastalla. Von Staatskanzler Metternich war die 18-jährige Marie-Louise als würdige und politisch vorteilhafte Braut für Napoleon ausgewählt worden, der nach der Scheidung seiner kinderloser Ehe mit Joséphine de Beauharnais eine eigene Dynastie begründen wollte. Der Staatsräson wichen schießlich die Vorbehalte der Familie, insbesondere Marie-Louises Vaters Kaiser Franz. Zunächst ''per procurationem'' in Wien vermählt, wurde die Habsburgerin am 1. April 1810 in der Kapelle des Louvre Gemahlin Napoleons. Am 20. März 1811 brachte sie den ersehnten Sohn zur Welt: Unter dem Namen Napoleon II. Franz wurde dieser noch am Tag der Geburt zum König von Rom ausgerufen. Vorliegende Büste zeigt Marie-Louise als wohl knapp 20-jährige junge Frau. Die minutiös-lebendige Physiognomie strahlt kaiserliche Würde aus, die der antikisierende klassische Habitus unterstreicht und in die Tradition römischer Herrscherinnenporträts stellt. Wie inschriftlich vermerkt, folgt die Darstellung dem Porträt Marie-Louises durch den Bildhauer François-Joseph Bosio (1768 Monaco - 1845 Paris), der neben Antonio Canova als einziger zu Porträtsitzungen zugelassen war und dessen Büste der Kaiserin von 1810 sich heute noch in Schloss Compiègne befindet. Verbreitung fand dieser Typus durch die Bildhauerschule von Carrara, die Élisa Bonaparte (1777 Ajaccio, Korsika - 1820 Villa Vicentina) älteste Schwester Napoleons, Fürstin von Lucca und Piombino und Großherzogin der Toskana, initiiert hatte, um offizielle Porträts der kaiserlichen Familie herstellen zu lassen. Bis 1814 wurde die Akademie geleitet von Lorenzo Bartolini (1777 Savignano - 1850 Florenz), der 1805 eine monumentale, heute im Louvre ausgestellte Bronzebüste geschaffen hatte und vorliegende Büste ausführte. The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
