Germany, 18th century, brass, chased, chased and patinated, glass hourglasses encased in the middle with cardboard and cord, white marble sand, the glass hand-inscribed, 18.5 x 22 cm, one hourglass not functioning, signs of age and use. Typical revolving baroque pulpit clock or sermon clock to indicate the duration of the sermon. As a rule, the first glass contained sand for a quarter of an hour, the second for half an hour, the third for three quarters of an hour and the fourth for a full hour.
