A PARACAS PRECOLUMBIAN POLYCHROME DECORATED URN VASE - South Coast Peru, ca. 300 B.C. - Black-gray pre-Columbian pottery with a surrounding polychrome figural frieze on the vessel shoulder. The Paracas culture, among the first complex cultures of South America, existed from 700 BC - AD 200 and is divided into two phases: Paracas Cavernas and Paracas Necropolis. According to information in estate of the collector, the piece comes from Cerre Blanco, Ocucaye era, Harold Kaye collection, N.Y. 1946 - From the Peter Römpert Collection (1944-2022), acquired in the 1970s, formerly the Harold Kaye Collection, New York, collected in 1948. TL analysis from 1979 confirms the dating. Small cracks to the rim and minor rest., small surface damages.
