Nach dem Modell von Pierre Lepautre (1659-1744) im Musée du Louvre, Paris. Feine, vollplastisch gearbeitete Bronze, dunkel patiniert. Auf einer quadratischen Plinthe der stehende, an einen Baumstamm gelehnte junge Satyr mit einem Hirtenstab und einer um seine Schultern gelegten Lamm. Der Faun dargestellt mit Lorbeerkranz im Haar sowie Schamblatt vor seinen Genitalien. Höhe 69 cm. Leichte Altersspuren. Schöne gewachsene, leicht glänzende Patina.

A French neo-classical Grand Tour sculpture of a faun as a shepherd, 19th century

After the model by Pierre Lepautre (1659-1744) in the Musée du Louvre, Paris. Fine, fully sculptured, darkly patinated bronze. On a square plinth the standing young satyr leaning against a tree trunk, holding a shepherd's crook, with a lamb around his shoulders. The faun wears a laurel wreath in his hair and a fig leaf concealing his genitals. Height 69 cm. Slight signs of age. Beautiful, grown, slightly glossy patina.
