First French edition with good impression of the plates of this treatise on sea urchins and marine fossils by Jacob Theodor Kelin, German naturalist, secretary of the Republic of Gdansk and member of the Royal Society of London, who owned one of the richest cabinets of natural history in Europe. This treatise, adorned with a portrait of the author and 28 plates engraved by Maisonneuve, was one of the main on the subject until the 19th-century.

Half-title, frontispiece with engraved portrait of the author, title with printer's device, 28 full-page engraved plates, headpieces, initials and tailpieces in woodcut (a few small spots). Contemporary half calf on decorated blue paper, spine decorated in gilt with leather inserts, red edges.
