Furniertes Nussholz, vergoldete Zierelemente und Beschläge, mehrteilig gefertigt, der zweitürige Unterschrank mit abgeflachten Kugelfüßen und geschnitztem Akanthusdekor, die Türfüllungen mit dem bayerischen Rautenwappen auf Wurzelfurnier. Der en suite gefertigte, hohe Aufsatz mit zwei Glastüren sowie abnehmbarer Bekrönung mit fein geschnitztem Spiegelmonogramm "L" in Kartusche. Vier in der Höhe verstellbare, hölzerne Einlegeböden. Maße 300 x 160 x 60 cm.
Provenienz: In der 25. Auktion der Hermann Historica im Oktober 1991 wurde unter der Losnummer 3457 der erste von zwei Bücherschränken König Ludwigs II. versteigert. Das Pendant wurde in der 29. Auktion im Oktober 1993 unter der Losnummer 3636 angeboten. Seither in einer deutschen Privatsammlung.

King Ludwig II of Bavaria - a large bookcase from the library in one of the family castles, circa 1860/70
Veneered walnut wood, gild decorative elements and fittings, crafted in several parts, the two-door cabinet base with flattened ball feet and carved acanthus décor, the door fillings with the Bavarian coat of arms with diamond-shaped pattern on root veneer. The high top part crafted en suite with two glass doors and detachable finial with finely carved mirror monogram "L" within a cartouche. Four wooden shelves adjustable for height. Dimensions 300 x 160 x 60 cm.
Provenance: The first of two bookcases belonging to King Ludwig II was sold at the 25th auction of Hermann Historica in October 1991 under lot number 3457. Its counterpart was offered at the 29th auction in October 1993 under lot number 3636. It has been part of a German private collection ever since.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
