Copper engraving map of Hildesheim, titled in the bottom right of magnificent figurative cartridge and herein, "Episcopatus Hildesiensis...", in the middle view of Hildesheim from the bird's-eye and the left Plan of Hildesheim, engraver Gerhard Julius Arenhold, published by Johann Baptista Homann in Nuremberg, presentation of the area between the Steinhuder Meer in the North of Helmstedt in the East, the village of Elbingerode, in the South and Rinteln in the West, copper engraving with partial surface colour, around 1720, in the middle Bugfalte, in the lower area of brown discoloration and crease traces, under passe-partout mounted, display, dimensions approx. 47,7 x 56 cm. Artist info Johann Baptista Homann: dt. Engraver, publisher and Jesuit (1664 Kambach until 1724 Nuremberg), probably a pupil of David Funck, founded around 1702 the company's own publishing house "Homännisches maps-Offizin", 1715 member of the Royal Prussian society of the Sciences, Emperor Karl VI awarded him the title of "Imperial geographer" and the Russian Tsar Peter the Great appointed Homann for "Kayser Russian Imperial agent" among others active in Vienna, Leipzig, and Nürnberg, source: Thieme-Becker and the Internet.
