Among the most renown illustated works of the 18th-century, the work is a "summa" of classical mythology accompanied by 60 refined plates, within a richly decorated border, engraved and designed by Bernard Picart. Folio (450 x 305mm). Half-title, title in red and black, engraved initials and headpieceso, 60 engraved plates within richly decorative border, text in French, English, German and Dutch (some slight staining, small wormhole in bottom margin of p. 84, otherwise a good copy). Contemporary calf, plates decorated with a "grid" motif, decorations and title in gilt on spine label (slightly worn) red edges, marbled endpapers.
