Estimate value
$ 5 000 – 8 000
After Christiaan van ADRICHEM (1533–1585). L'antichissima citta di Gierusalemme. Rome: Ceseri, c.1603.

Unrecorded Italian wall map of Jerusalem after Adrichem. Christiaan van Andrichem first printed his map of Jersulem in 1590. It depicts the city in Biblical times and charts events from the life of Jesus, including his birth to Mary and David in Bethlehem as well as his crucifixion and resurrection. Many copies of the popular map were made, and the present map was printed in Rome in the early 1600s. It closely follows Andrichem's original and adds a cartouche with a dedication in Italian to Massimiliano Cafarelli (fl. c.1603).

Four sheets joined, overall 833 × 1130mm on 918 × 1210mm sheet (darkened, scattered wear and tiny chips associated with rolling creases, a few tiny wormtrails). Old mounting on linen.
