Probably At The End Of 18. Century. The Model by Etienne Maurice Falconet (1716-1791).

Gilded Bronze and white marble. Square plinth on small feet. The pedestal rotates, cupids fries.
Two prancing nymphs in antique neo classical garb. Hold a
Acanthus leaves shaped chalice from the four curved candlestick arms and in the middle
a strong Thyrsos-staff, entwined by ivy and with a pine cone is crowned,
growing up. Height 91cm. Condition B.
Provenance:
Collection Josef Rieks, acquired in the art trade Nolte, Münster, 1999.

The two candelabra are designed in the time of Louis XVI in the form language of the goût étrusque. The very lifelike figures of the nymphs follow the model by Etienne Maurice Falconet, the learned different versions. Copies are to be found today among others in the Royal castle in Warsaw and at the Musée Nissim de Camondo in Paris
