Lebensgroße Holzfigur eines bärtigen Mannes - Provenienz: erworben 1984 im Antiquitätenhandel in Paris als Galionsfigur eines Heiligen (oder Mönchs) aus Eichenholz von einem wohl portugiesischen Schiff aus dem späten 17.Jh. (Originalzertifikat von „CHAILLOUS INTERNATIONAL Centre d'affaires " LE LOUVRE", Place du Palais Royal/Paris liegt vor), provisorische Namensgebung: Prophet Habakuk, bei in Auftrag gegebenen Holzanalysen erwiesen sich die eingesandten Holzstücke allerdings als Nussbaum bzw. Ulme, die Holzskulptur weist Spuren von Stoffaufleimung auf, was für eine partieller oder ganzheitliche polychrome Fassung spricht, Höhe ca.190 cm, Breite bis 45 cm, Tiefe bis ca. 84 cm, Gewicht ca. 150 (!) kg, trotz umfangreicher Recherchen, bei denen Museumsexperten aus aller Welt bemüht wurden (National Maritime Museum/London, Museu de Marinha/ Lissabon, The „Cutty Sark“ Society / London, Statens Sjöhistoriska Museum / Stockholm, Monument Musei e Gallerie Pontificie / Rom, Musee du Louvre / Paris, Altonaer Museum / Hamburg u.a.), konnten das exakte Alter ( 17.-19.Jh./ eher 17.Jh.) sowie die zugedachte Funktion (wohl keine Galionsfigur aufgrund der untypischen nicht durchgebogenen Formgebung mit sichtbarer Befestigungskonstruktion sowie der nach unten zielenden Blickrichtung, eventuell Teilstück einer mehrteiligen Skulpturengruppe, aufgestellt im Schiffsinneren bzw. zur Inneneinrichtung eines Sakralbaus zugehörig) nicht zweifelsfrei festgestellt werden, ferner taten sich die Fachleute sehr schwer mit der Enträtselung der tatsächliche Identität des Dargestellten, nach den sehr breit gefächerten Meinungen kämen hier bspw. Papst Paul III. Farnese (1468 - 1549), der portugiesische Seefahrer und Entdecker Vasco da Gama (um 1469- 1524), der Universalgelehrte Galileo Galilei (1564 -1642) oder Gott-Vater aus einer imposanten Altargruppe in Frage, interessant erscheint allerdings die stilistische Einordnung der Skulptur durch Boye Meyer-Friese vom Altonaer Museum in Hamburg, der die hervorragende Schnitzkunst in die Nähe des bedeutenden französischen Bildhauers Pierre Puget (1620-1694) rückt, für ihr Alter befindet sich die Figur in einem bemerkenswert guten Zustand, Fachpresse: die zusammengetragenen Rechercheergebnisse erschienen kompiliert im 4-seitigen Artikel „Qui est donc Abacuc?“ in der Kunstzeitschrift L'Eventail mit 3 großformatigen Fotos, S.74-77, L’Eventail, No.28, Mai 1990, umfangreiches Dossier mit Expertenmeinungen, Analyseresultaten samt zugehöriger Korrespondenz (1980er Jahre) einsehbar, Holz teils mit Altersspuren, Verwitterung, Wurmspuren

First of all, you should register to be able to purchase at auction. The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
