Lot 1139 | Lepage, Prototype Nr. 2
Kal. 9mmBrowningLg, Nr. 2, leicht matter, 120 mm langer Lauf. Elfschüssig, belgischer Beschuss. Linksseitig mit zweizeiliger Beschriftung "MANUFACTURE D' ARMES LEPAGE - LIEGE - BELGIQUE / CAL. 9mm LONG BREVET No 305326".

Lepage semi-auto pistol, Prototype Nr. 2
Lepage semi-auto pistol, Prototype Nr. 2
Cal. 9mmBrowningLg, SN. 2, barrel length 120 mm. Slightly dull bore. 11 shots. Belgian proof marks. On the left side two-line markings "MANUFACTURE D' ARMES LEPAGE - LIEGE - BELGIQUE / CAL. 9mm LONG BREVET No 305326". The left side of the slide reworked, the receiver with signs of reworking, reblued. Dark walnut grips, the right one with a window to show the charging status. Slide catch on the right side. Blowback system, the barrel fixed in the frame. Fixed rear sights with two flaps, marked "100 200 300", dove-tailed front sight. After removing the safety lever the lock swivels downwards, together with hammer, main spring and disconnector. In this gun the magazine works as trigger bar. The trigger pull is transferred via the moving magazine , which in turn releases the hammer to fire. Magazine safety and safety lever. The front strap with finger recesses, the rear strap with two notches, probably in preparation for a shoulder stock. A very unusual construction, in particular the trigger system. After filing their patent in 1922 LEPAGE tried in vain to get a foothold in the market for semi-auto pistols. Apart from this gun only one other sample with 12 shots is known to exist, also being on offer in this auction. Read more on this gun in the GAZETTE DES ARMES, 2008, issue 396, and in the VDW's „Waffenfreund“, volume 3.
