Description: LONGINES produced this model for Czech pilots. The case back is usually engraved with
'Majetek Vojenské Spravy,' which means 'Property of the Czechoslovak Army.' Background:
After the German occupation in 1938, many Czech pilots fled to France and from there to
England, where around 90 of them joined the British Royal Air Force. The brave Czech
pilots, who still wore their LONGINES watches, helped the United Kingdom in its fight
against Nazi Germany and played an important role during the Battle of Britain.
Twenty-nine Czech fighter pilots became official 'Flying Aces.' One of them, Josef
Frantisek, single-handedly shot down 17 German aircraft within 28 days in September 1940.
