Perseus bannt Phineus mit dem Haupt der Medusa
Kompakte, vielfigurige, dynamisch gespannte Darstellung der mythologischen Erzählung nach den Metamorphosen des Ovid (5. Buch, Vers 1-235), wohl Entwurf für ein Fresko. Es ereignete sich ein grausiges Gemetzel genau in dem Moment, als das Hochzeitsmahl für Perseus und Andromeda stattfinden sollte. Ihr Onkel und früherer Verlobter Phineus stürzt sich mit seinen Truppen auf Perseus und seine Männer, bis dieser zuletzt mit dem Haupt der Gorgo die verbliebenen Gefolgsleute und schließlich auch Phineus selbst zu Stein verwandelt. Auf dieser Zeichnung hält Perseus mit der ausgestreckten, erhobenen Linken den abgeschlagenen Kopf der Medusa, ihm gegenüber Phineus mit gezücktem Schwert. Giordano, der zu den bedeutenden Meistern des italienischen Barock gehörte, hat das Thema mehrfach in Gemälden festgehalten, u. a. in der National Gallery of Art in London und im Königspalast in Genua. Feder u. lavierte Tusche/Papier. L. u. bez. oder sign. "Luca Giordano". Ger. gebräunt u. fleckig. 26,5 cm x 41,5 cm (Blatt), Rahmen.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
