Estimate value
€ 400 – 600
Raymond Lullius was a versatile philosopher and scholar from Palma de Mallorca. His work influenced on one hand Gottfried Leibniz and Giordano Bruno, and on the other hand had great importance in the debate in Spain between Christians and Jews and on the attempts to convert the Muslims. This collection of works, published for the first time in 1598, contains several treatises on these topics and some of his more philosophical works that in part come close to the world of the occult.
2 parts in one volume, 8vo (183 x 105mm). Printer's devices on titles and at end of first work, 4 folding tables, numerous woodcut illustrations, with final blank in first work (as always very browned, lacking the final leaf of second work). Contemporary vellum, gilt spine with title label (some worming and staining).
