Lot 3706 | MAESTRO DELLA NATIVIÀ DI CASTELLO Aktiv Mitte des 15. Jh. w
Estimate value
€ 7 800 – 3 900
MAESTRO DELLA NATIVIÀ DI CASTELLO Active mid-15th century probably in Florence and Prato GODFATHER WITH SERAPHIM Oil tempera on poplar panel (two inset sponki on the reverse). 19,5 cm x 33 cm. Partly damaged, old rest., cracks and minor paint chips. In the Fondazione Zeri in Bologna the painting by Everett Fahy is attributed to the Maestro di San Miniato (Lorenzo di Giovanni di Nofri?), who worked between 1460 and c. 1490. J.J. Stossmayer attributed the small panel to Filippo Lippi. Michele Danieli (Bologna), on the other hand, sees the work as closer to the Maestro della Nativià di Castello. We are gratefull to Michele Danieli (Bologna) for his help with the panel offered here. Literature: Listed in the Fondazione Zeri in Bologna (no. 106296). Provenance: North German private collection. Formerly the collection of Bishop Josip Juraj Stossmayer (there attributed to Filippo Lippi).
Provenienz: Norddeutsche Privatsammlung. Ehemals Sammlung des Bischofs Josip Juraj Stossmayer (dort Filippo Lippi zugeschrieben).
