An Italian maritime still life, in the style of Guiseppe Recco, 17th century
Oil on canvas. A baroque still life with fish and a crab. A large spider crab at the centre and several different fish in the foreground. A wicker basket with asparagus and roses in the darkened background. Unsigned. Size of the painting 40 x 57 cm, size of the frame 55 x 74 cm.
Guiseppe Recco (1634 - 1695) worked in the typical Neapolitan style and was famous for his still lifes, especially his scenes with fish and game, for which he took his inspiration from Caravaggio's Chiaroscuro.

Öl auf Leinwand. Ein barockes Stillleben mit Krebs und Fischen. In der Bildmitte eine große Seespinne und einige unterschiedliche Fische vorne. Im verdunkelten Hintergrund ein Flechtkorb mit Spargel und Rosen. Unsigniert. Bildmaße 40 x 57 cm, Rahmenmaße 55 x 74 cm.
Guiseppe Recco (1634 - 1695) arbeitete im typisch neapolitanischen Stil und war für seine Stillleben berühmt, insbesondere für die unter Einfluss von Caravaggios Chiaroscuro entstandenen Fisch- und Wildszenen.
