Georges Mathieu is the Creator and main representative of tachisme, a direction of the abstract in the abstract painting. Together with Camille Bryen Georges Mathieu in 1947, organized in Paris an exhibition of the "Non-Figuration psychique" referred to tachistischen direction. Mathieu's images are mostly abstract, from the speed of the painting process certain compositions. His works develop in an emotionally driven and intuitive Time-act in accordance with the method of Japanese calligraphy, which can be characterized with Meditation, concentration, Improvisation, and speed. Mathieu staged his painting literally, he painted large pictures in front of an audience. He cultivated this kind of theatrical Painting action so far, that the artist creates in 1956, at the Théâtre Sarah-Bernhardt in front of 2000 spectators within a half-hour, to about 4 x 12 meters large paintings from 800 tubes of paint. The creation process of the work of art is thus very strong.
The present painting combines this, for the artist typical characteristics: the yellow, intuitively-placed lines, calligraphic and based the same, to move in front of a oscillating Blue, held by a black bar, so that the work resembles a piece of music. Mathieu created here, an almost musical, as in the conducting of the generated color composition
