(1847 Berlin - 1935 ibid)Avenue in Kukulau in Bad KösenLook at the cherry Avenue at Kösen with a flock of sheep. Charming, quite early, impressionist landscape study from a sketch book. Because of a rheumatism-suffering Liebermann went in the spring of 1888 for a cure to Bad Kösen, where some of the drawings were created. The same motif of a flock of sheep on a tree-lined Avenue on the handle Liebermann in the same year, as a mirror-image composition in a well-known oil Painting again (sold at auction in 2014, for ¿ 460.000), also in 1892, only a little modified in the etching "flock of sheep under the trees" (CR. Schiefler 23). Black chalk/chamois coloured, slightly textured drawing paper. R. u. signed & dat (18)88. 10.7 cm x 16.8 cm. Frame.The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by Dr. Margreet Nouwen, Berlin, in April 2018, orally and verified.Shown in: H.
