In her memoirs, Paul Scheurich's wife describes her husband's close collaboration with the Meissen manufactory on the designs and staffage of his figurines. He was allowed to let his creativity unfold: "...Especially in Meissen I found artistic freedom in my work, I also had freedom in the choice of motifs and the artistic form of expression". (Quoted in Rafael, John, p. 19)
The sketches and design drafts of the group, as well as the detailed specifications for the staffage, have been preserved in the manufactory's archives and still bear witness to the detailed implementation of Scheurich's ideas by the Meissen manufactory.
At the 1937 World's Fair, the figure and its staffage were awarded the Grand Prix.
