Technique: Porcelain, enriched in colours.
Description: The sauciere has a slightly depressed shape and a bulging vessel wall, ending in a pointed spout on one side. A braided handle with a curved end on one side. One of three lion mascarons attached underneath, each crowning a paw-shaped foot. The wall is decorated with kakiemon decor in bright onglaze colours with chrysanthemum branches growing out of a rice straw hedge on one side. A flying bird of paradise on the inside bottom. Handle and feet with gold applications, gold border on the upper rim of the vessel.
This vessel has not yet been found in any publications on Meissen porcelain. It is probably a rare mould.
Measurement: Height 8,2cm.
Mark: Swords mark, painted blue under glaze.
