Portrait of a young noble Lord
Fine liquid painted chest-portrait in period costume with a white lace collar and sash on a harness. Style typical, expressive distinguished work of the artist who was appreciated for his closely observed, live true Portraits. Mierevelt, 1583/85 master in the Guild of Saint Luke in Delft as well as 1625-1634 in The Hague, was a sought-after portraitist of the aristocracy and led workshop is a thriving. He was court painter to the Prince Maurice of orange and Archduke Albrecht VII. v. Austria. Numerous similar Portraits are documented by the RKD in The Hague. Oil/Lwd., doubl.; 66 cm x 53 cm. Frame.
