Estimate value
£ 1 200 – 1 500
Bodegas Artadi is today, undoubtedly, a reference point as one of the best Bodegas in Spain. The seeds of this renowned winery started in 1981, when its current owner, Juan Carlos López de Lacalle, founded a cooperative. In 1992, the cooperative was dissolved and Bodegas y Viñedos Artadi de Laguardia, S.A. was established. In 1990 they decided, being aware of the importance of the age of the vineyards, to select and produce a wine from the old Tempranillo vineyards that they owned in the region: the wine Pagos Viejos. In 1945, a family member, Jenaro San Pedro, made his personal and family dream come true by planting Viña El Pisón. The estate chosen was a piece of land close to the village, with a medieval mill in the centre, located in a natural amphitheatre. In 1963 he passed away, at the age of eighty years old, but his dream did not end with him; his family continued it. In 1991, Juan Carlos López de Lacalle produced the first vintage of his family’s single vineyard : Viña El Pisón. In 1994, Grandes Añadas was released, paying attention to the relevance and singularity of the best vintages.
