Auf einem unregelmäßigen Sockel aus aufsteigenden, plastischen Rocaillen aufrecht sitzender, posierender Drache. Polychrome Aufglasurmalerei. Entwurf Hugo Meisel (1887 - 1966), 1921. Ligiertes Entw.-Monogr.; Minim. rep.; Manufakturmarke. H. 99 cm. 50 cm x 31 cm.
Der 1887 in Lichte/Thüringen geborene Sohn des Porzellanmalers Otto Meisel war bereits früh mit dem Material Porzellan vertraut. Nach seiner Ausbildung an der Zeichen- und Modellierschule und einem Studienaufenthalt in Berlin arbeitete er ab 1909 als Modelleur an der Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur.
Die Großplastik des spottenden Drachens entstand im Zuge der plastischen Ausschmückung des als Messehaus genutzte "Porzellan-Palais" in Leipzig, mit der die Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur beauftragt wurde. Es entstanden insgesamt 16 monumentale, von Hugo Meisel und seinem Bildhauer-Kollegen Arthur Storch entworfene Tierfiguren bzw. Fabeltiere, die zur Leipziger Frühjahrsmesse 1921 im Palais gezeigt wurden. Die Fertigung der zum Teil über 2 Meter hohen Porzellanfiguren stellte eine besondere technische Herausforderung dar, weshalb sie noch heute Inbegriff technischer und künstlerischer Kunstfertigkeit sind.

Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
