MONUMENTALE IKONE MIT DER VERSAMMLUNG ZU EHREN DER GOTTESMUTTER Russland, um 1600 Einzeltafel mit zwei Rückseiten-Sponki. Eitempera auf Kreidegrund. 79 x 58 cm. Mittig im Bildzentrum liegt die Gottesmutter, den Christusknaben in ihrem Schoß haltend. Links flankieren sie die drei Könige, rechts drei Hirten. Im Hintergrund erscheint eine bizarre Felsenlandschaft, die am oberen Rand von je zwei Engeln flankiert wird. Vom oberen Rand aus erscheint der Stern von Bethlehem. In den unteren Ecken erscheinen die Personifikationen der Erde und der Wüste. Mittig singt ein Chor zu Ehren der Gottesmutter und Christi den Weihnachtshymnus. Die Ikone illustriert die einzelnen Strophen eines berühmten Weihnachtshymnus, der von dem Patriarchen Germanos von Konstantinopel (Patr. 715-733) verfasst wurde. Vertikaler Riss rest., Farbe des Hintergrundes und Randes abgenommen, partiell rest.
