Premier livre illustré par le sculpteur Henry Moore. Exemplaire d'André Gide. Alors que la guerre prive Moore des ressources pour continuer son œuvre sculpté, il travaille sur différents projets d'œuvres sur papier et gravées. Lors d'une visite à Paris, il rencontre Jonquière qui le convainc de participer à son projet d'édition du Prométhée de Goethe, traduit par Gide. Il produit 8 lithographies (et quelques lettrines et décors) dont les dessins préparatoires indiquent clairement la volonté d'en faire un jour des sculptures (Henry Moore. Myths and Poetry. Gallery Hauser and Wirth). Sa vision du mythe de Prométhée se détache fortement des représentations classiques du titan puni d'une vie de souffrance et d'angoisse. Le Prométhée de Moore est droit, fier et fort, soutenant Mira dans la mort ou, sur son rocher, défiant les dieux ; malgré le châtiment qu'il sait l'attendre. Cramer, Moore, 18 à 323.

En feuilles sous emboîtage illustré de l'éditeur. 15 lithographies originales en couleurs de Henry Moore, dont une pour la couverture et 8 à pleine page (la lettrine "P" est répétée deux fois). Tirage limité à 183 exemplaires, sur vélin de chiffon à la forme des Papeteries du Marais, un des exemplaires de collaborateurs "imprimé pour Monsieur André Gide" (petites déchirures à la charnière de la couverture). The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
