from the Royal Hof-Conditorei"from the series "Italian Comedy" for the Duke of Weissenfels. On a flat Pedestal of the masked comedian is standing in a bright yellow, of purple-rose-decorated-coloured flowers, Venetian carnival costume, with gold-ornamented, over the head, pulled the shoulder cloth, and a black Trident in his right Hand, a watch holding. Polychrome painting with gold decoration. Design By Johann Joachim Kaendler. In the soil, K. H. C. "means" in Black for Royal Hof-Conditorei. Minim. restored; sword brand. H. 16 cm.Comparable designs are in international art collections and museums, including the State art collections in Dresden (PE 511), in the V&A Museum in London (Inv. no. C. 941-1919), at the Met Museum in New York(64.101.70) and in the Bavarian national Museum in Munich.Cf. Rückert, Bayer.
