The diagram shows a mythological story from the life of the historical Buddha. As he meditated, there was one day of severe weather and heavy rain. Since Muchalinda, the king of the Naga (snakes) appeared, from a nearby lake, and invited the Buddha to take in its rolled-up body space. His seven heads he put on the protection on the head of the Buddha. As the rain eased, Muchalinda back to his Royal Form, bowed and returned back to his Kingdom
