First edition of a selection of excerpts from ‘the greatest work in the history of science’ (PMM). Containing 12 engraved folding plates and a commentary on Newton’s text by three Cambridge scholars, this celebrated volume became a standard work for students at the University for many years. Babson 15; PMM 161.



Quarto (252 x 195mm). 12 engraved folding plates. Contemporary calf, later stamp of Cork Institution on upper board (rebacked, light wear at extremities). Provenance: Cork Institution, Ireland (binding, ink stamp on title).
