Lot 256 | NICHOLSON, William (1872-1949) et Rudyard KIPLING (1865-1936)
Estimate value
€ 5 000 – 7 000
An Almanac of Twelve Sports. Londres : William Heinemann, 1898.
Provenance : Henry Arthur Johnstone (1861- circa 1921?
One of the few deluxe copies “printed direct from the original woodblocks, hand-coloured and signed by the artist”. The depicted sports are: hunting, coursing, racing, boating, fishing, cricket, archery, coaching, shooting, golf, boxing and skating. From the collection of Major Henry Arthur Johnstone (Royal Field Artillery), which was sold en bloc to a London bookseller in 1921 (Clements).
