Relief mit "David und Batseba" aus dem Speisesaal des Klosters Mariental bei Helmstedt
Eichenholz, polychrom gefasst, partiell vergoldet bzw. versilbert. Szenische Darstellung der Erzählung aus dem Alten Testament: Batseba mit zwei Begleiterinnen an einem Springbrunnen vor ihrem Bade, auf einem Balkon seines Palastes, der sie begehrende König David mit Krone und Harfe als Attribut. Die Zeitmode der drei Frauen - geschlitzte Ärmel und Barett - sowie die Darstellung der Architektur entsprechen der Dürer- bzw. Cranach-Zeit und der frühen Renaissance nördlich der Alpen. Stilistische Vergleiche lassen sich zu Holzschnitten derselben Epoche ziehen. Verso Bez. der Sammlung "Wanstrat" und Sammlungsetikett von Eugen Primavesi. 68,8 cm x 31 cm.
Laut Informationen des Einlieferers war das Relief 1880 im Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam ausgestellt und wird im Buch von Otto Heinemann "Aus vergangenen Tagen" (Wolfenbüttel 1902, S. 8-14) erwähnt.

North German Flemish sculptor active circa 1520-1530. Carved and painted oak relief with David and Batseba from the refectory of Mariental Abbey near Helmstedt in Lower Saxony, North Germany. On the reverse inscribed name of the collector Albert Wanstrat (architect in Brunswick) and collector's label of the art dealer Eugen Primavesi in Vienna and Salzburg.

After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
