First edition in English of ‘the earliest attempt at an elaborate description of Egypt’ (Blackmer). Norden made a voyage through Egypt all the way down to Sudan in 1737-1738 at the request of King Christian VI of Denmark. He was the first European to penetrate as far as Derr in Nubia and to publish descriptions of any Nubian temples. An octavo version without plates appeared the same year, as well as an abridged 'compendium' published in Dublin. Blackmer 1211.
2 volumes bound in one, folio (462 x 284mm). Half-title to each volume, 2 engraved frontispieces, one a portrait, 162 plates, maps and plans, numbered 1-159 with nos 140-141 and 142-143 together, plates 17, 23, 27, 66, and 108 on two plates each, numerous engraved vignettes, initials, head- and tail-pieces (faint marginal staining at beginning and end, variable spotting). Modern speckled calf.

The results of the auction are published within a few days after the end of the auction. In the top menu of the site, find the tab "Auctions". Click on it and you will be on the auction catalog page, where you can easily find the category "Results". After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
