Second edition, presentation copy from the author, 4to (265 x 215mm.), 8pp. text, large folding hand-coloured lithograph panorama by Bracebridge, on three combined sheets (268 x 26 cm), presentation slip pasted onto front pastedown, original cloth, text loose (as issued?), some paper toning, later inventory label on upper cover

“Second edition, but in fact a new lithograph. The first edition appeared in 1836. The lithograph in the 1839 edition is after a new drawing by Mrs Bracebridge taken from a site directly opposite the Acropolis, near the church St. Demetrius and the Bombardier. The earlier drawing was taken from a position north of the Pynx” (Blackmer).
