Christoph II. Kreß von Kressenstein (1515-1560) stand nach einem Aufenthalt in Frankreich in Diensten von Königin Maria von Ungarn. Kreß sollte 1531, nachdem die mittlerweile verwitwete Königin das Amt der Statthalterin des Kaisers in den Niederlanden übernommen hatte, nach Nürnberg zurückgekehrt sein. 1542 wurde er Mitglied des Rates in Nürnberg, wo er 1549 junger Bürgermeister, 1550 Landpfleger und 1558 alter Bürgermeister wurde. 1537 heiratete er in erster Ehe Dorothea Haller von Hallerstein (gest. 1554), in zweiter Ehe Catharina Imhof (1531-1574). Als Witwe verehelichte sich diese mit Tobias Tucher von Simmelsdorf.
Ebenfalls im Jahre 1540 entstand die Vorlage zu jenem Porträt des Christoph II. Kreß von Kressenstein, das der Kupferstecher Hans Troschel d. J. (1585-1628) posthum anfertigte. Die Vorlage scheint links oben mit dem ligierten Monogramm "HK" (mit "°" über dem K) bezeichnet gewesen zu. Ein Zusammenhang des vorliegenden Porträts mit jenem von Troschel gestochenen Bildnis ist unverkennbar.

After opening it, select the desired auction from the list, enter and view the current status of the interested lot.
The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. In the near future you will find detailed information for each case in the section "Auction information" on the page of the auction catalog and the lot.
Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
