Lot 110 | OBERSCHLÄGIGER HAMMERFLÜGEL, NANNETTE STREICHER IN WIEN ZUGESCHRIEBEN, UM 1827
Estimate value
€ 7 000 – 14 000
DOWNSTRIKING FORTEPIANO ATTRIBUTED TO NANNETTE STREICHER IN VIENNA, CIRCA 1827
The fortepiano has lost its signature. There are many details on this instrument that match the grand pianos from Streicher. In addition to the legs, the pedal system and the lyre, there are other matching features, such as the idiosyncratic soundboard and the wooden hitchpin plank, which was later patented by J.B. Streicher. The most obvious detail is the diagonal shift of the action, which can be attributed to Nannette Streicher.
The grand piano is veneered in a beautiful pyramid mahogany and rests on three pillar legs, which are decorated with golden ornaments. The three pedals, crowned by a "Streicher-typical" lyre, operate the damper lift as well as the Due Corde and the Una Corda.
The grand piano has a downstriking action as well as the corresponding damping. The keyboard (FF-f4) has a 3-octave-span of 47.4cm. The hammers are covered with leather. The piano has a split bridge (FF-HH and C-f4) and is stringed with three strings throughout.
Dimensions of the instrument:
Length: 2300mm
Width: 1190mm
Total height: 930mm
The fortepiano has been restored in the past and is in playing condition.
