Автор воспоминаний генерал-майор Константин Михайлович Оберучев (1864—1929) — народоволец, затем эсер, в отставке из царской армии в звании полковника. Вернулся из эмиграции перед Февральской революции. Был произведен в чин генерал-майора и назначен Временным правительством командующим войсками Киевского военного округа в мае 1917 г. В сентябре 1917 г. представлял Россию на Международной конференции по обмену военнопленными в Копенгагене. После Октябрьской революции домой не вернулся. Архив Оберучева распределен между ГАРФ и Гуверовским институтом войны, революции и мира.
