AN IVORY OKIMONO OF A KOMUSÔ MONK - Japan, Taisho/Showa Period - Carved in standing position, dressed in a simple robe, holding a flute in his left hand. On his head he carries a beehive. Komusô monks collected donations by playing the shakuhachi flute.To remain unrecognised, they would wear behives on their heads.Ivory, partly stained in red, blue and black. - From a South German private collection, since more than 30 years with the present owners - The sales permit for this lot is available - Minor wear, slightly rep. at the back

Stehende Darstellung des Mönchs, gekleidet in einer schlichten Robe, in seiner linken Hand eine Flöte haltend. Auf seinem Kopf trägt er einen Bienenkorb. Komusô Mönche sammelten mit dem Spiel der shakuhachi Flöte Spenden. Um unerkannt zu bleiben, stülpten sie sich Bienenköpfe auf auf ihre Köpfe.

The information about the auction winners is confidential. The auction winner will receive a direct notification from the auction house responsible with instructions for further action: an invoice for payment and the manner in which the goods will be received.
Each of the auction houses has its own payment policy for the won lots. All auction houses accept bank transfers, most of them accept credit card payments. Shipment of the won lot depends on its size. Small items can be delivered by post. Larger lots are sent by courier. Employees of the auction houses will offer you a wide range to choose from.
