A collar and badge of the Order of the Reigning House of Hohenzollern, 2nd model, 1939 - 1947
Gilt orders chain with enamelled details, Hohenzollern shield and reversed cipher "C" for Carol II. Alternate links decorated with stars or the openwork coat of arms of the provinces: the Golden Eagle of Wallachia, the wild bull's head for Vltava, the bridge for the Banat, two dolphins for Dobrudja and the coat of arms of Transylvania. The gilt silver badge on a movable, padded crown, enamelled on both sides with a medallion made of several pieces. Width approx. 51 mm. In the black presentation case with a crimson velvet insert and white silk lining.
The Princely House Order of Hohenzollern was adopted by Carol II as a royal Romanian order in 1935. After Carol was exiled in Estoril, Portugal, in 1940 he continued to award the order and founded new classes. The orders of this period were made by da Costa of Lisbon. The order collar is an exceptionally rare find, given that only very few specimens are known to exist.
