ORSINI, Ignazio (ca. 1705-1770) - Storia delle monete della Repubblica fiorentina. Florence: Pietro Gaetano Viviani, 1760.

First edition dealing with the history of Florentine numismatics from about 1317 to 1533. The work is dedicated to the Marquis Lorenzo Casimiro degli Albizi, who wanted to form a museum on the coins of the Medici house and the Florentine Republic. Ignazio, son of Camillo Orsini, was a lover of music, antiquities and in particular numismatics. He moved to Florence at the beginning of the 18th-century and was ascribed to the Pisan nobility by a grand ducal decree of 1768.

4to (268 x 193mm). Title printed in red and black with vignette engraved by Francesco Allegrini, 6 plates with engraved coins, woodcut illustrations of coins, initials and woodcut headpieces (slight dampstaining in the upper margin of the final leaves and plates). Contemporary vellum, spine decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers (some spotting); preserved in a modern decorated paper box.
