Watercolour and opaque paints on ivory. Diameter 7.1 cm. Glued behind with paper. Slightly stained. Damage to the brass frame (15.8 x 12.9 cm) with engraved details of the sitter.
Maria Antonie wurde als Tochter von Graf Ferenc József Koháry (1767-1826) und Gräfin Maria Antonia von Waldstein zu Wartenberg (1771-1854) geboren. 1816 heiratete sie Prinz Ferdinand von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld (1785 Coburg - 1851 Wien). Die Familie nannte sich Sachsen-Coburg-Koháry. Der Ehe entstammten vier Kinder, darunter auch der spätere König Ferdinand II. von Portugal.
