Runder, profilierter, sich verjüngender Fuß mit schließendem Nodus. Darüber eiförmig gestreckter Korpus. An der Schulter plastisch ansetzende, sich aus dem Zähne fletschenden Löwenkopf windende Schlangenpaare, spiralförmig eingerollt in die aufsteigenden Henkel übergehend. Trichterförmig eingezogener Hals mit breiter, ausschwingender Mündung. Flächendeckender kobaltblauer Fond. Auf den Schauseiten ausgewählte antikisierende Figurenszenen auf breitem Ornamentsockel aus dem Zyklus "Einzug Alexanders des Großen nach Babylon". Die Darstellung von Panzerträgern beim Bändigen des legendären Streitpferds Bukephalos von Alexander dem Großen. Auf dem Gegenstück der auf sein Heer zurückblickende Alexander der Große mit Speer, in einem von Nike geführten Triumphwagen mit Viergespann. Nach Vorbild des Marmorfrieses von Berthel Thorvaldsen im Schloss Christiansborg in Kopenhagen bzw. nach Vorlagen von Samuel Amsler. Verso eine kartuschenhaft von Voluten und Blattzweigen gerahmte Groteskenmaske. Feine, reliefartige, in Weiß aufgetragene Emailmalerei. Reiche Goldstaffage. Modell-Nr. E 198. Schwertermarke. H. 65 cm.
Äußerst präzise effektvoll plastisch hervortretende Emailmalerei vor kobaltblauem Grund. In Anlehnung an Sèvres und Royal Worcester-Porzellane wurde diese Technik im Stil der Limosiner Maleremail-Arbeiten erstmals 1865 in Meissen ausgeführt und 1867 auf der Weltausstellung in Paris präsentiert. Diese zeigte szenische Darstellungen des Einzugs Alexander des Großen in Babylon nach Vorlage von Bertel Thorvaldsen (1770 - 1844). Thorvaldsen fertigte den Triumphzug erstmals für Napoleon Bonaparte, danach im Jahre 1829 für Schloss Christiansborg in Kopenhagen, von denen Samuel Amsler Kupferstiche auf Grundlage der Zeichnungen von Friedrich Overbeck anfertigte. Amslers Kupferstiche, die zudem in Hermann Lückes "Der Einzug Alexander des Grossen in Babylon: Marmorfries von B. Thorwaldsen" erschienen sind, boten die Motivgrundlage für die Darstellungen derartiger Meissener Prunkvasen, die zumeist nach einem Modell von Ernst August Leuteritz entstanden sind.
