Pair of Bronze Tazze with bacchant Reliefs, Stamped VP with crown, Victor Paillard (1805-1886), Paris, mid-19th century. Century

Bronze, partly gilded, partly silver plated. Age and signs of wear
Provenance: From a significant Hessian collection. On the famous London world exhibition of 1851 selected works were presented with examples of Victor Paillard, including the shown here-Bronze Tazze, which were also in the published Art-Journal illustrated (The Art-Journal Illustrated Catalogue, 1851, p. 289). The outstanding position Paillard owes his great Talent as a Bronzierer and his reputation by working with sculptors such as Pradier, or Barye.
