Stilisierter bzw. mit plastischem Ast- und Blattwerk, Blumen sowie Getreideähren belegter Sockel. Sitzender Fasanhahn bzw. Fasanhenne mit drei Jungen. Beide mit aufgestellter, langer Schwanzfeder, den Kopf zur Seite gewandt. Polychrome Malerei. Entw. Johann Joachim Kaendler, 1735 und Paul Walther, 1921. Teilw. Entw.-Monogr. "PW". Modell-Nr. G 268 und 1766. Schwertermarke. H. 71 cm.
Die Ausformung von Tieren in Porzellan hat in der Meissener Manufaktur eine lange Tradition. Angeregt durch August den Starken schuf der Meissener Modellmeister Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706 - 1745) bereits in den 1730er Jahren zahlreiche, zum Teil lebensgroße Tierplastiken für die königliche Sammlung, u. a. verschiedene Vogelmodelle. In der höfischen Menagerie studierte Kaendler eingehend Habitus und Aussehen der exotischen Tiere und Vögel am Naturvorbild. In der Nachfolge von Kaendler stehen auch die Tierfiguren von Paul Walther, dessen Oeuvre neben zahlreichen Vogelarten auch verschiedene exotische sowie Nage- und Wildtiere umfasst. Er gilt als einer der produktivsten Tierbildhauer zu Beginn des 20. Jhs.
