A PAIR OF RANK BADGES WITH SILVER PHEASANT FOR THE FIFTH RANK - China, 2nd half 19th c. - White silk gauze (sha), embroidered with colored silk in counted stitches and appliqué technique for the outlines. The pair of rank insignia with silver pheasant symbolizing the fifth civil court rank was completed but never used. The bird stands on a rock in waves, surrounded by the Eight Buddhist Precious, of which he holds the canopy in his beak. Between the clouds five bats. The background is filled by a dense swastika grid, the frame with bats and Shou medallions. Attached is a paper with an inscription. - Former Stuttgart private collection, acquired in the 1950s - Cf. Weiße Seidengaze (sha), bestickt mit farbiger Seide in gezählten Stichen und Anlegetechnik für die Konturen. Das Paar Rangabzeichen mit Silberfasan als Symbol für den fünften zivilen Hofrang wurde fertiggestellt, jedoch nie benutzt. Der Vogel steht auf einem Felsen in Wellen. Er ist umgeben von den Acht Buddhistischen Kostbarkeiten, von denen er den Baldachin im Schnabel hält. Zwischen den Wolken fünf Fledermäuse. Den Hintergrund füllt ein dichtes Swastika-Gitter, den Rahmen bilden Fledermäuse und Shou-Medaillons. Beigefügt ist ein Papier mit einer Aufschrift.
